About Egypt national men's football team
The Egypt national men's football team, founded in 1921, is governed by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and represents Egypt in international competitions. It is the first African country to participate in the FIFA World Cup (1934 Italy World Cup) and has won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) seven times. The player with the most appearances in the team's history is Ahmed Hassan (184 games), and the all-time top scorer is Hossam Hassan (69 goals). As of 2025, it ranks 46th in the FIFA World Rankings, with Rui Vitória serving as the current head coach.

Team History
At the 1934 Italy World Cup, Egypt became the first African country to qualify for the tournament. It won the first AFCON title in 1957 and later claimed the championship in 1959 and 1986 as the host nation. In the 1990 World Cup group stage, Egypt was eliminated with 2 draws and 1 loss, and then failed to qualify for six consecutive World Cup Qualifiers. In the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers, it lost to Algeria in a play-off and missed the qualification. In 2017, Egypt advanced to the 2018 World Cup one round ahead of schedule but finished at the bottom of the group stage with three consecutive losses. In 2021, Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz took office, and the team won the fourth place in the Arab Cup the same year. In the 2022 AFCON final, Egypt lost to Senegal in a penalty shootout and finished as the runner-up. It qualified for the AFCON finals for the 26th time through the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers. In October 2025, Egypt secured the top spot in Group A of the World Cup Qualifiers in advance, advancing to the FIFA World Cup finals for the 4th time in the team's history.
