"RB Leipzig (Red Bull Leipzig), commonly referred to as RB Leipzig, was founded on May 19, 2009. It is a football club based in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, competing in the Bundesliga, with its home stadium being the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
On May 19, 2009, the Red Bull Group acquired Markranstädt, a team from Germany's fifth-tier league, and renamed it RasenBallsport Leipzig (also known as RB Leipzig). Since its establishment in 2009, RB Leipzig has achieved four promotions within seven years. In 2016, RB Leipzig successfully gained promotion to the Bundesliga. In their first Bundesliga season, RB Leipzig once topped the standings but later suffered a slump in form, eventually finishing as runners-up in the league, with Emil Forsberg claiming the title of top assist provider in the Bundesliga that season. In the semi-finals of the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League, RB Leipzig lost 0-3 to French side Paris Saint-Germain, missing out on the final.
On August 12, 2023, in the 2023 DFL-Supercup final held at the Allianz Arena, RB Leipzig defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 away from home to win the championship."
