Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has updated the latest situation regarding Rodri’s transfer, revealing that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez personally intervened to block the midfielder’s prospective move to Real Madrid.

From the player’s perspective, Rodri is highly open to returning to Spain and has long dreamed of joining Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, I have been repeatedly informed that Florentino Pérez has personally halted this transfer operation. The Real Madrid chief has no intention of pushing forward with Rodri’s signing and is closing the door on any such possibility.

Nevertheless, the summer transfer window remains open for another 40 days. Therefore, I will update the public if Real Madrid changes its stance or decides to convince Florentino Pérez to greenlight the deal. As of current information from Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez refuses to advance with the transfer.

If the situation changes, it is worth noting that Rodri’s contract with Manchester City expires in the summer of 2027, making the transfer financially feasible and affordable for Real Madrid.

Still, Manchester City remains committed to retaining the midfielder and hopes to finalize a new contract with Rodri.
