Bayern Munich will host Chelsea at home. Ahead of the match, Bayern’s star striker Harry Kane attended a pre-match press conference and answered questions from camel.live reporters.
On Chelsea
“We’re confident we can beat any team at the Allianz Arena. As for who the favorites are, that’s for you journalists and fans to judge. Right now, we’re in really good form.”
“If we want to beat Chelsea, we have to put in our best performance. This game will be tough, but it will also be really exciting. Chelsea performed brilliantly in the FIFA Club World Cup and have been playing well in the Premier League lately too.”
On Uli Hoeneß recently calling Bayern a “dark horse” in the Champions League
“A club like Bayern always wants to win every game. I won’t say we’re underdogs, even when we’re up against the best teams in Europe. Now, a long journey is about to begin, and we hope it can last all the way until May (next year). I don’t want to look too far ahead—right now, we want to finish as high as possible in the group stage standings. Everything starts tomorrow.”
On the goal of finishing in the top eight (top two of the group)
“February 2025 was a really tough period, both physically and mentally, because we had to play in the play-offs against Celtic back then. That was a difficult time. But play-offs don’t stop a team from achieving success, as Paris Saint-Germain proved last season. Of course, we want to finish in the top two of the group to avoid the play-offs.”
On his own form
“I’ve always believed I can score goals. When I first joined the club, I needed to adapt to everything here, and I wasn’t sure how things would go. Now I’m really happy with how things are going, and I want to keep improving on this basis. Bayern’s style of play suits me really well. Right now, I’m full of confidence, and both my physical and mental states are in good shape. If I’m in good overall form, I can score more goals.”
On Michael Olise and Cole Palmer
“Both are really excellent players, and they share a lot of similar qualities. They’re both good at finding spaces, have great ability to play forward passes, can read their teammates’ runs and deliver through balls, and both of them can score goals too.”
“Olise is maybe more of a wide player—he likes to take on opponents in one-on-one situations and uses his pace; while Palmer is more of a No.10, and sometimes can even play as a No.9. He’s good at making late runs into the box and finishing. Both of them are top players. I’m glad Olise is on our team, not the opponent’s.”
