Sané Unfollowed Bayern on Instagram and Called Galatasaray Fans the Best in the World

Ahead of the friendly match against Lazio, former Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané officially joined Galatasaray alongside new signing Victor Osimhen. Amid rapturous cheers from fans, the stadium announcer called Sané onto the pitch.

Sané then took the microphone and said: “I’m very happy to be here. I’m looking forward to playing here today, but more so, I’m looking forward to playing in front of you amazing fans, the best fans in the world, this season.”

These words may come as a surprise to some Bayern Munich supporters. The German international spent five years at Bayern, where he was celebrated, criticized, and repeatedly supported in Munich. Now, in Istanbul, his praise for the local fans as "the best in the world" feels almost like a break with the past.

Notably, Sané no longer follows Bayern Munich on Instagram. While it is a small detail, it carries symbolic significance, as he still follows his other two former clubs—Manchester City and Schalke 04—on the platform.

Sané’s debut for Galatasaray was rather underwhelming. He put in a 平淡 performance against Lazio and was substituted in the 63rd minute.

Sané joined Galatasaray from Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer, signing a contract with the club until 2028.
