DaDong here. Panama versus England, and today I’m looking at England -2.
I know the total goals market is the popular talking point, but I see value in the handicap. Let me tell you why I think England can cover this.
First, let’s be honest about what this match is. England versus Panama is not a fair fight on paper. The question is not who wins. The question is by how many. And when I look at the gap between these two teams, -2 does not scare me.
The mentality is key here. England is always under the spotlight. Every time they step onto the pitch, the press expects a performance. If they beat Panama by one goal, it is a disappointment. If they win by two, people say it was acceptable. Three or more—that is what satisfies the English football public. Southgate knows this. The players know this. They will not take their foot off the gas after two goals. They will push for a third, a fourth, to send a message.
Also, look at the squad. This England team has depth Panama cannot match. The starting eleven is packed with Champions League players. Then after 60 minutes, fresh legs come on—players who want to prove they should start the next match. They run at tired defenders, and that is when the score can really open up. Panama’s bench does not have that quality. The last 30 minutes is where England can pull away.
Now, tactically. England’s wide play is a massive problem for Panama. Saka on one side, Foden or Grealish on the other. In one-on-one situations, Panama’s full-backs cannot handle that pace and trickery. England will get to the byline, cut it back, and create high-quality chances. Panama’s defense is physical but not very mobile. Quick combinations and switches of play will pull them apart. I see multiple goals coming from wide areas or cutbacks into the box.
Panama will try to defend deep and keep it tight. That works for a while, maybe 20 or 30 minutes. But concentration under constant pressure is hard. One mistake, one slip, and England scores. Then the dam breaks. Panama has to come out a little, and that leaves even more space. I’ve seen this script many times with big nations against smaller ones.
The -2 line means England needs to win by three goals for a full win, or by exactly two for a push. When I look at the quality gap and the game script I expect, I see a three- or four-goal win for England. Maybe 4-0 or 4-1. Something like that. Panama might have a moment, but England has too much firepower.
So that’s my thinking. Not emotional, not based on hope. Just a cold look at the matchup and the mentality. England should dominate, and they should cover the handicap.
DaDong says England -2. That’s my play. Skål!
