AC Milan are waiting for Rasmus Højlund, but they will not wait indefinitely.
Under the current proposal, Milan’s plan for him is that he can become AC Milan’s future striking core, an idea that is quite appealing.
Such an arrangement would allow the deal to meet the striker’s needs, while AC Milan and Manchester United can further refine the terms of the transaction.
Contacts between the two clubs, as well as between the Rossoneri and Højlund’s team, are ongoing and are expected to continue today. The two sides are likely to reach an agreement on a loan deal with a buyout clause (trigger-based mandatory), with a total value of €40 million, a requirement put forward by Manchester United due to budget constraints.
The Rossoneri can afford the cost of the loan fee plus the transfer fee: after all, if Højlund proves his worth on the pitch, he will once again hold value in the transfer market. At that point, AC Milan may well land a real bargain.
The club hopes to complete the deal as early as this week – with this new striker, the transfer market will effectively come to an end – which will provide an additional striker for Allegri in the match against Cremonese.
