Ahead of Marseille's 1-2 away defeat to Real Madrid in the first round of the UEFA Champions League, Marseille's goalscorer Timothy Weah gave an interview.
On the Match
“We’re a team full of winners, and obviously we wanted to get a good result here tonight. I think we played well, and there are positive takeaways we can carry into the next game. The coach has a clear philosophy that he wants to instill in us. There are a lot of new faces at the club, and I feel like we’re starting to understand his vision—we can learn from this game and use those lessons in a positive way.”

On His Goal
“I’m happy to score my first goal for the team, but I’m even happier with the movement I used to create that goal—it shows the understanding I’ve built with one of my closest teammates here.”
“For us players and the staff, this is a learning experience. Now we just need to keep moving forward, because we’re on the right path.”
