According to reports from the sports world, Retegui, the top scorer in Serie A last season, has moved from Atalanta to Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah.
No official details of the deal have been disclosed, but media reports state the transfer fee is €65 million, which will make the 26-year-old Retegui the most expensive Italian player in history. Previously, the final transfer fee for Sandro Tonali, who moved from AC Milan to Newcastle United in 2023, was €58.9 million.
Reports indicate that the Argentina-born player only spent one year at Atalanta, joining from Genoa last year as a replacement for the injured Gianluca Scamacca. He then scored 25 Serie A goals to help the team finish third.
Al-Qadsiah was promoted to the Saudi top flight just one year ago, signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Marseille for €9 million at the time. The Gabonese veteran scored 17 goals in the Saudi league last season but has recently left the club on a free transfer.
