Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, made scathing criticisms of Real Madrid during a visit to Andorra la Vella.
Previously, Florentino Pérez accused Barça of winning games by paying money to Negreira at the club’s last general assembly.
“Now I remember those remarks made at the assembly in Madrid, which I never had the chance to comment on before. Since I’m in Andorra now, I’ll address them.
I think these remarks are excessive and expose Real Madrid’s bias against Barça. They seem to have to use Barça as a talking point to justify certain ulterior motives.
They keep meddling in the legal proceedings of the Negreira case like chewing gum, dragging it out endlessly—because they know the case is completely baseless, yet it serves as a tool for them to defend false claims:
Barça has never bribed referees, and referees usually don’t favor Barça; they’ve always favored Real Madrid.
Just last round, Real Madrid scored two goals. In my opinion, Bellingham clearly committed a handball foul, and in the other goal, Vinícius broke Iñaki’s nose.
Neither of these goals should have counted—Barça should be leading the league right now.
They have a persecution complex regarding Barça’s most glorious era. They didn’t like Barça dominating world football between 2004 and 2015, a period of absolute dominance, so they try to find meaningless excuses.
We played the most beautiful football, and our efforts, achievements, and style have been recognized, admired, and respected. We’ve won countless trophies, and Barça’s playing style is renowned worldwide—so stop making flimsy excuses to explain why we’re not top of the table.
If they get stuck in a political vortex centered on Barcelona, I’m happy about it, because Barça usually achieves success and victories at such times.
But the statement issued by the assembly attacking the La Liga president makes me suspicious. I’ve had frictions with Javier Tebas—he’s an honorable man, passionate about his position. We have a normal cooperative relationship, not a special one, and we don’t seek a special one; we just maintain a normal collaborative relationship.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s relationship with La Liga is extremely tense. They are determined to get rid of him and find someone to replace him, but this strategy makes me skeptical.
Tebas does his utmost to benefit La Liga, so I suspect that, at Real Madrid’s behest, they want to drive him away and replace him with someone else. Who will they find to take his place?”
The Barça president insisted on defending the club and hitting back at attacks from Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid fans.
“If they get caught up in this ‘Barça mania,’ I’m quite happy, because Barça usually achieves success and victories at such times,” he commented, also highlighting Real Madrid TV’s attempts to influence referees.
“Real Madrid TV tries to influence referees every week,” he emphasized.
