Son Heung-min is set to join LAFC for a transfer fee of approximately $26 million, which is poised to break the previous MLS transfer record of $22 million held by Atlanta United forward Ezequiel Barco. The player is on the verge of completing his signing with LAFC, with an official announcement potentially coming as early as Wednesday.
Last Sunday, Son Heung-min played his farewell match for Tottenham Hotspur against Newcastle United in Seoul, which ended in a 1-1 draw. In the second half, when Son was substituted off, the entire stadium stood to applaud him, and players from both teams lined up to pay tribute to him.
Last season, Son Heung-min helped his team defeat Manchester United in the Europa League final, securing his first trophy at the club level.
Since joining Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, he has become the seventh player in the club’s history to reach the 450-appearance milestone, contributing 173 goals and 101 assists during his tenure.
