Manchester United

Form & Tactical Outlook:

Following Wednesday night's 4-1 loss away to Champions League debutants Como, Manchester United are seven matches without a win across all competitions (D3 L4) for the first time since 2015. The Red Devils last recorded a victory in early September against Azerbaijan's Sabah FK. Winning just one of their opening seven Premier League fixtures, Manchester United are experiencing their worst start to a top-flight league season since 1986-87, with 45-year-old head coach Michael Carrick potentially facing departure should Sunday's encounter end in another defeat. Both of United's two competitive wins in 2026-27 have come at Old Trafford; however, they are currently on a three-match home winless streak in all competitions (D1 L2). With Bruno Fernandes struggling for form at the start of the campaign, 2025 signing Bryan Mbeumo has scored four goals across seven Premier League appearances. In Premier League meetings, United are winless in their last six encounters against Bournemouth (D2 L4), having last defeated them in the 2022-23 season.

Team News:

Ayden Heaven (illness), Marcus Rashford (hip), and Lisandro Martínez (unknown injury) could be available on Sunday. Kobbie Mainoo remains sidelined with a muscular issue, reportedly targeting a return against Chelsea at the end of the month. Michael Carrick provided no update regarding the fitness of Benjamin Šeško (shin) during his pre-match press conference, leaving the Slovenian striker doubtful. At left-back, Luke Shaw (unknown injury) and Patrick Dorgu (thigh) are projected to be out until November, while midfielder Manuel Ugarte (knee) is targeting a return in 2027.

Bournemouth

Form & Tactical Outlook:

Although Bournemouth have taken maximum points only once in the Premier League this season, they have opened their first-ever European campaign with three consecutive victories. Following Thursday night's 3-0 win over 10-man AC Milan—where the visitors failed to register a single shot on target at the Vitality Stadium—the Cherries sit joint-top of the Europa League standings through three matchdays. Marco Rose's side have won each of their last three games on home soil by an aggregate scoreline of 8-0, aiming to secure four straight victories for the first time since December 2023 under Andoni Iraola. Marcus Tavernier scored in both recent home wins against Sunderland and AC Milan, leading the team's scoring charts with five goals in 11 competitive appearances.

Team News:

20-year-old attacker Eli Junior Kroupi has recovered from a summer foot injury and leaves the treatment room, putting him in line to feature at Old Trafford. Conversely, Hungarian midfielder Alex Tóth sustained a hamstring strain against AC Milan on Thursday and joins Alex Scott (thigh) on the sidelines.
