Regarding the situation between Manchester City and Gianluigi Donnarumma, the club has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Italian goalkeeper. Currently, Manchester City is waiting for Ederson’s future to be clarified before taking action to sign the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper.
Manchester City rates Donnarumma highly, and Donnarumma is also eager to join the club. However, in any case, the club still needs to prioritize addressing the situation of Ederson, another goalkeeper in the squad. Therefore, Manchester City will only pursue Donnarumma if Ederson leaves the club. Previously, Galatasaray’s offer for Ederson was rejected, but the Turkish club may still make another attempt to sign the goalkeeper, who has only one year remaining on his contract.
For this weekend’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City may still adjust their starting goalkeeper, but this decision will largely depend on the progress of Ederson’s transfer. Although Galatasaray has not yet submitted a new offer, Manchester City is open to selling Ederson, as his contract is set to expire in 2025.
Thus, if Ederson joins Galatasaray or another club, Donnarumma will become Manchester City’s new goalkeeper. The deal is in progress and awaiting an official announcement. Conversely, if Ederson ultimately stays at Manchester City, the club is not expected to continue pushing forward with Donnarumma’s transfer.
