Manchester United plan to enter the new season without signing a new striker. Last season, Manchester United underperformed in the Premier League, scoring only 44 goals and finishing 15th in the standings, a ranking that marked their lowest in 51 years. In light of this, signing a striker has become the top priority for Manchester United in this summer's transfer window. However, so far, United have only signed two players in the transfer market: Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for £71 million, neither of whom is a traditional No.9 centre-forward.
In their pursuit of a top striker, Manchester United have encountered numerous setbacks, as several of their target forwards have opted for other clubs: Liam Delap moved to Chelsea, Milos Kerkez is largely set to join Arsenal, and Arnaud Kalimuendo has already become a Liverpool player.
With the arrivals of Delap and Joao Pedro, Jackson's status at Stamford Bridge has diminished, as both are ahead of him in the team's pecking order. Manchester United's transfer strategy this summer focuses on signing players with Premier League experience, who require no adaptation period and can quickly integrate into the team and make an impact. From this perspective, Jackson is also a feasible signing option, as bringing him in would both solve United's striker issue and create conditions for Garnacho's departure.
Notably, Manchester United could also complete a swap deal involving winger Garnacho and Chelsea striker Jackson, with both valued at £40 million.
