Following Manchester City’s humiliating 0‑3 Community Shield defeat against Arsenal and confirmation that Rodri has reached an agreement to join Barcelona, Fabrizio Romano shared updates in his video regarding Rodri’s transfer impact on Manchester City. The Citizens are expected to finalize the signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi soon and will renew their pursuit of Enzo Fernández.

Fabrizio Romano stated:
Manchester City have not given up on Enzo Fernández even after the deadline passed on Friday. Any club interested in Enzo Fernández, in this case Manchester City, will now hold negotiations with Chelsea.
There are no longer any verbal agreements concerning his departure. The matter now rests entirely in Chelsea’s hands. It is for Chelsea to make decisions and assess the situation. It is critical to follow subsequent developments, as Chelsea will set the asking price, yet Manchester City remain in the race. Manchester City are still calling the player’s agent and keeping communication channels open.
Fresh off their defeat to Arsenal, Manchester City clearly need to strengthen their squad. Therefore, I anticipate two separate transfer moves from City. The first is to wrap up the deal for Ayyoub Bouaddi. Manchester City have already agreed personal terms with Bouaddi and expect to push forward negotiations with Lille to complete the deal within the next few hours. It could happen at any moment; Ayyoub Bouaddi is expected to join Manchester City shortly, it is only a question of time.
Then there is Enzo Fernández. I expect Manchester City will make another attempt for him. We will have to see what response Chelsea give, and also what the player himself decides. At present, Chelsea have sent out a very clear message: they hold control of the situation, they will make the final decisions, and they are perfectly happy to keep Enzo Fernández at the club. So we will keep monitoring how events unfold.
