Inter Milan forward Mehdi Taremi has been confirmed to miss the remainder of the Club World Cup, with the Iranian international currently stuck in his homeland. Taremi cannot return in time for any remaining fixtures due to Iran's airspace closure and the high risks of overland travel, meaning he will not leave Iran in the near future. Inter officials have been in close contact with Iranian authorities in Italy over the past days to reassure the player, but no solution has been found. Taremi is currently in Tehran, in a relatively safe location.
Sources say Inter are urging Taremi to seek a new club, with the Iranian striker appearing open to moving on. Fulham have shown strong interest, and intermediaries are working to facilitate a solution.
Additionally, Manchester United have temporarily rejected Inter's proposed deal for Rasmus Højlund— a loan with an option to buy— which was the structure sought by the Serie A side. As a result, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has begun considering alternative striker targets. Once a new forward signing is finalized, Inter will turn their attention to Taremi's situation. The Iranian forward is now active in the transfer market, and once he secures a move, Ausilio will proceed with negotiations regarding Højlund.
