Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livaković joined Girona on loan on the final day of the transfer window. Recently, Livaković made his official debut in front of the media as Girona’s new goalkeeper and shared his initial experiences.
Livaković said, “I’m very happy to be here. I came to Girona wanting to become the best goalkeeper and do everything I can to help Michel. I’ll stay ready and wait for my chance to play.”
The Croatian international revealed that his compatriot Luka Modrić had played a key role in his decision. “I talk to Modrić regularly—he’s a friend and a teammate. He helped me a lot and recommended that I come here. He speaks very highly of this club and La Liga,” he stated.
Additionally, he mentioned that his move was finalized at the last minute: “The final hours of the transfer window were extremely intense; almost everything was confirmed only in the final moments,” he admitted.
Livaković noted that he was already familiar with the club’s progress in recent years. “I got to know Girona over the past two seasons, especially with their achievement of qualifying for the Champions League. I think everyone knows about Girona now,” he commented.
He also shared his thoughts on the team’s most recent match. “I feel regretful that we couldn’t secure all three points. The team showed excellent attacking and defensive play, and our overall performance was really good. I’m looking forward to the next game and hope we can get the three points from our first win,” he concluded.
The goalkeeper also talked about his adaptation process and his expectations for the city: “This is my first time in Girona. I know the food here is very famous, and I can’t wait to explore the city and its surrounding areas,” he said with a smile.
Finally, he emphasized the importance of daily collaboration with the head coach. “Michel has high standards and is very meticulous when it comes to tactics. I believe I can learn a lot from him,” he summed up.
