Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has emerged as a key option for Newcastle United after they lost out in the £73.9 million race for Benjamin Šeško.
Eddie Howe has been eager to bolster the forward line this summer and backed the pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Šeško, though sources suggest the 22-year-old favours a move to Manchester United.
While it is not yet confirmed whether they have given up on Šeško, it is understood that Eddie Howe has turned his attention to other forwards, with Jackson high on his list of forward targets.
Chelsea are open to selling the 24-year-old Jackson this summer, having previously signed Liam Delap and João Pedro for £90 million to bolster Enzo Maresca's attacking options and help the team return to the Champions League.
Jackson scored double figures in both seasons at Stamford Bridge, and despite not being as prolific as other number 9s in top leagues, he is still regarded as a reliable forward option by Premier League clubs.
Last season, he was in excellent form, scoring 9 goals in 15 games, though he received a red card in the domestic league during the battle for a top-five finish with Newcastle United.
The Senegal international’s asking price is likely to depend on other forward transfers this summer.
