Real Madrid faced Liverpool at Anfield in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage.

This will also mark the return of English defender Trent Alexander-Arnold to Anfield, having joined Real Madrid from Liverpool this summer. Ahead of the match, he visited Diogo Jota’s memorial alongside Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso and defender Jesús Vallejo to pay his respects.

According to media reports, Alexander-Arnold laid flowers, a gaming controller, and a handwritten card at Jota’s memorial at Anfield.

Photos show that the flowers he presented had a handwritten card attached, which read: “My dear friend Diogo, we miss you so much, but you are still deeply loved. The memories of you and André will last forever. I smile whenever I think of you, and I will always remember the wonderful times we shared. Brother, I think of you every day. Forever number 20, YNWA.”

In addition, Alexander-Arnold also placed a gaming controller as a tribute.
