Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Manchester United have decided to continue with Michael Carrick serving as head coach.

Romano stated: following extensive internal discussions involving the club's owners, CEO, Jason Wilcox, Michael Carrick, and players (including Bruno Fernandes), Manchester United decided to allow Carrick to remain in charge for at least one more match (away against Chelsea).
The club hopes to see the players take on greater responsibility rather than continually changing managers. Manchester United are winless in their last eight matches and have experienced a dip in recent form. There is also a widespread belief within the squad that recruitment this past summer was insufficient.
Meanwhile, the club has made preliminary contact with representatives of other managers. The primary candidates currently under consideration, in order of preference, are Eddie Howe, Unai Emery, and Antonio Conte. Although Emery is deeply admired by Manchester United, he remains entirely focused on affairs at Aston Villa.
