Barcelona
Form & Tactical Outlook:
After winning their opening 11 matches of the 2026-27 season across all competitions, Barcelona enter Saturday's clash following back-to-back defeats—losing 4-2 to European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on October 20 before falling 2-1 to Real Madrid in El Clasico. Hansi Flick's side remain top of La Liga on 27 points, but their lead has been cut to two points over second-placed Atletico Madrid and three over third-placed Real Madrid. Saturday's fixture is the first of three matches for Barcelona before the November international break, with a Champions League home tie against Aston Villa and a La Liga away clash against Atletico Madrid on November 8 to follow. Barcelona have won 36 of their 51 competitive meetings with Alaves, although they lost 1-0 in their last meeting back in May. Barcelona have been unbeaten at home against Alaves since September 2016.
Team News:
Xavi Espart is facing seven weeks out after suffering an ankle injury against Real Madrid, paving the way for 23-year-old Alejandro Balde to make his first start of the campaign. Dani Olmo (adductor), Roony Bardghji (knee), and Eric Garcia (thigh) are also out, while Jules Kounde (ankle) and Andreas Christensen (thigh) remain doubts. In midfield, Fermin Lopez, Rodri, and Pedri are expected to continue as the midfield three on Saturday despite Frenkie de Jong's recent return to fitness.
Deportivo Alaves
Form & Tactical Outlook:
Quique Sanchez Flores's Alaves side sit seventh in the La Liga standings with 12 points from 10 games (W3 D3 L4). A 1-1 draw with Malaga in their most recent league outing extended their winless run in Spain's top flight to six matches, having not won in the league since a 5-2 home triumph over Osasuna at the start of September. Alaves finished 14th in La Liga last term, one point clear of the relegation places. The Blue and Whites have conceded the same number of league goals as Barcelona this season (11), but have scored 14 goals compared to the Catalan outfit's 40.
Team News:
Facundo Garces (knee) and Mikel Rodriguez (knee) remain sidelined, leaving the away side in otherwise strong shape. Forward Lucas Boye, who has scored five goals in nine appearances this season, will feature in attack. Former Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz, who has registered three goals and four assists in 10 appearances this term, is set to start once again through the middle.
