According to the Liverpool Echo, Jordan Henderson sparked backlash among sections of the Liverpool fan base after tapping the Chelsea crest during his goal celebrations.

The 36-year-old midfielder, who served as Liverpool's long-time captain before departing Anfield in 2023, joined Chelsea this summer. In Chelsea's recent 5-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth, Henderson netted a brace. However, his celebratory gesture of tapping the Chelsea badge on his shirt after burying his second goal drew sharp criticism from disgruntled Reds supporters on social media.

Liverpool fans voiced their displeasure on social platforms: "Jordan Henderson of all people patting the Chelsea badge?" Another stated: "Not nice seeing Henderson patting the Chelsea badge." A third warned: “Henderson slapping the Chelsea badge. If going to Chelsea wasn't bad enough, your reception when coming back to Anfield will be bad.”

Henderson could face a tense reunion at Anfield later this month, with Liverpool scheduled to host Chelsea in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
