After officially joining Al-Hilal, French left-back Theo Hernández bid farewell to AC Milan via a lengthy social media post. The 26-year-old French international fondly reflected on his time at the Rossoneri, admitting he had hoped to stay but ultimately left due to the club’s direction and decisions.
Theo wrote: “After six years at this club, it’s time to say goodbye.
I arrived at Milan in 2019 with dreams, desires, and the passion to wear this historic jersey. Now I’m leaving with unforgettable moments—like the glory of winning the Serie A title and the Italian Super Cup—and most importantly, having shared a dressing room with extraordinary people.
I sincerely thank my teammates, every coach who trusted me, and especially Paolo Maldini for his support, vision, and leadership.
Thanks also to all Rossoneri fans, who stood by me in good times and bad. Feeling your support is an honor I’ll never forget; it will stay with me forever.
Deciding to leave wasn’t easy. I always knew where I wanted to stay, and Milan was my top choice. Unfortunately, not everything is up to one person. The club’s chosen direction and recent decisions no longer reflect the values and ambition that drew me here. It’s time to turn the page—a different chapter, but equally important for me.
I’ll leave with my head held high, knowing I gave my all for this club, sharing the same dreams as the fans. I depart with gratitude and hope—that Milan will soon return to where it belongs. Milan, this city, will always be part of my life.”
