Real Madrid official: Club decides against summer buyback of Nico Paz, but option remains for next two seasons

Real Madrid has announced it will not trigger the buyback clause for Nico Paz this summer, with the midfielder set to spend another season under the management of Cesc Fàbregas at Como. However, the Whites retain the option to sign the player in the 2025–26 or 2026–27 transfer windows.

The club holds a 50% sell-on clause and buyback rights valid until the summer of 2025,2026,and 2027. The buyback fee starts at €9 million in 2025, increasing annually to €11million by 2027.

Madrid’s decision not to recall Paz stems partly from an overcrowded attacking line, where players like Arda Güler and Brahim Díaz already struggle for consistent minutes. The club acknowledges it would be difficult to guarantee the youngster sufficient playing time at Santiago Bernabéu, especially with Franco Mostantono joining the squad this year.

As a result, Paz supports continuing his development at Como, where he can secure regular starts—a luxury he would unlikely enjoy at Real Madrid in the immediate future.
