Real Madrid announced the starting lineup for the Club World Cup semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, with 24-year-old Brazilian forward Rodrygo failing to make the starting XI. He has now been on the bench for 5 consecutive games.
In Real Madrid's first match – a 1-1 draw with Al Hilal – Rodrygo started and provided an assist for Gonzalo García. He played 65 minutes before being replaced by Brahim Díaz. Subsequently, in matches against Pachuca and Juventus, Rodrygo remained on the bench without getting any playing time. In games against Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, he came on as a substitute for 23 minutes and 13 minutes respectively.
Rodrygo's last goal for Real Madrid came in the Champions League Madrid derby on March 5. He has now gone 15 games without scoring for the club, managing only 1 goal in his last 25 appearances.
It is understood that Real Madrid will assess Rodrygo's future after the Club World Cup, with a departure being a possible option. Several top clubs are keeping a close eye on the Brazilian star.
