Recently, Scott McTominay, who currently plays for Napoli, gave an interview. During the interview, he spoke about Kevin De Bruyne’s arrival, life in Naples, and his former club Manchester United.

On De Bruyne joining Napoli
“He’s an incredible player, and obviously, he’ll bring so many unprecedented improvements to the team. It’s fantastic for us to have him. It’s crucial for the club to sign players with such quality and character, and we want to push on again in the new season—we don’t want to settle for what we have.”
On life in Naples
“The people of Naples are amazing, full of passion. Everywhere you go, someone’s shouting ‘Forza Napoli’; they want to talk to you, chat with you. It motivates you to take the field with endless energy every time, because they care about you. The lifestyle here is totally different—eating habits, daily life, everything—but regardless, Naples gives you so much mental strength.”

On his mindset about moving to Serie A
“While I was at Manchester United, I always lived close to my mom, so I could visit her anytime. Now I’m 1,500 miles away, so I can’t just pop home to see my mom, my family, my sister, or my kids. It’s a different situation. But in life, sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone—and I’ve always been proud of that.”
“I never want to stay in my comfort zone. If I can go anywhere, establish myself and do well, why not? Who’s going to stop me from doing that?”
On former club Manchester United
“I’ve always wanted the best for Manchester United. Before joining Napoli, I played for United and gave my all for them. For me, I wish Manchester United all the success in the world. I’ll be right there with them, and I hope they do well.”
McTominay joined Napoli in last summer’s transfer window. In the 2024-25 season, he made 36 appearances for Napoli, scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists. He was one of the key figures in Napoli’s Serie A title win and was named Serie A Player of the Season for 2024-25.
