Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have been granted extended leave by Manchester United.
The devastated Portuguese internationals were scheduled to return to the club's Carrington training complex this week for pre-season training.
But due to the unfortunate death of compatriot Diogo Jota, they received special permission to join the team later.
The 28-year-old Liverpool forward and his 25-year-old brother André were killed in a car accident on Thursday.
Man United captain Fernandes and Dalot attended the funeral in Portugal on Saturday.
A source said: "Bruno and Diogo were devastated and shocked after the funeral.
United's players have rallied around them. They've been given an extra week of leave and offered counseling or support. The pair played together with Jota for a decade in the national team and won the UEFA Nations League title together just weeks ago."
As for Liverpool, they postponed the return training of the first batch of players scheduled for Friday, giving everyone extra time to adjust.
