With Inter Miami's 2-1 comeback victory over Porto, all matches in the second round of Group A at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup have concluded.
After this round, "Big Green" Palmeiras and Inter Miami both sit on 4 points, setting up a direct showdown between the two sides in the final round.
Final round fixtures:
Inter Miami vs Palmeiras
Porto vs Al Ahly
If Inter Miami and Palmeiras draw:
Both teams will advance to the round of 16 together, with Palmeiras finishing as group winners and Inter Miami as runners-up.
If Inter Miami and Palmeiras have a decisive result:
If they decide the match but Porto and Al Ahly draw, the losing side of Inter Miami vs Palmeiras will still qualify as group runners-up.
If they decide the match and Porto vs Al Ahly also has a decisive result, scenarios will need to be discussed separately.
Due to the Group A tiebreaker rules (head-to-head record takes precedence), if Porto wins but Inter Miami loses, Inter Miami will still advance ahead of Porto via head-to-head superiority; similarly, if Palmeiras loses but Al
Ahly wins, Palmeiras will advance ahead of Al Ahly via head-to-head record.
In other cases where two teams are tied on 4 points but have drawn against each other (unable to separate via head-to-head), goal difference will determine their rankings.
Simply put:
Inter Miami will only be eliminated if they lose, Al Ahly wins, and their goal difference falls below Al Ahly's.
Palmeiras will only be eliminated if they lose, Porto wins, and their goal difference falls below Porto's.
Al Ahly can qualify only if Inter Miami loses.
Porto can qualify only if Palmeiras loses.
